An All in One Candy bar This bar is much like SERVPRO: It can cleanup, restore, and reconstruct your home after a disaster.

Well, if you’re one of those intelligent, prudent clients with discriminating taste, you’re in luck! SERVPRO of North Rowan is the Damage Cleanup and Restoration + Reconstruction Company for you! One call can have a franchise professional at your property in mere hours with a van full of top-of-the-line industrial equipment, ready to knock out every step in the cleanup and restoration process and get you back to as close to preloss conditions as possible and make it “Like it never even happened.”

What Time does SERVPRO North Rowan Close?

12/7/2021 (Permalink)

A sign on a business door titled, "Sorry, we're closed, but still awesome" You will NEVER see a sign like this at SERVPRO, unless you stumble upon my secret stash of kitschy closed signs under my desk.

Ah, what a question. Many people have been asking this lately, so we’re making an official blog post statement: We Don’t.

That’s right, folks! We’re open 24/7. We do not close.

You might be thinking, “But SERVPRO of North Rowan Blogwriter, how can this be? I’m pretty sure people can’t work 24/7 without rest!”

Well, you might not be able to, but we ate all our vegetables growing up, so we’re stronger than you. Also, we might take shifts.

So what does that mean? It means if you get home at 5:15pm to find out your basement flooded, you don’t have to frantically check Google Maps to see if we’re open. We are. It means if you get home at 5:30pm at find debris spread all over your above-average yard from a storm, you won’t have to try sixteen times to get Siri (or God forbid, Cortana) to check if we’re still open. We are. And finally, it means if it’s 12:30am, and you’re having nightmares and need someone to call to chat with, you don’t need to check the YellowPages to see if we’re open. We are.

Floored by Your Marble Floors?

DON’T Do This to Marble Floors

  • Use vinegar, lemon juice, or other cleaners containing acids or harsh chemicals
  • Use commercially available bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, or tub & tile cleaners on marble surfaces.
  • Mix bleach and ammonia; this combination creates a toxic and lethal gas
  • Never mix chemicals together unless directions specifically instruct you to do so
  • Use metal or plastic vacuum cleaner attachments and be mindful of the wheels on the vacuum. If they are worn or rough, they may damage the surface.

Mold Growth in Mill Bridge?

11/24/2020 (Permalink)

We are mold remediation specialists in Rowan County.

Mold in MY house?

It was time to redecorate the guest room in my Mill Bridge home. There has always been a musty smell in that room, and I thought some new paint and furniture would eliminate the odor. An area of the wallpaper was already separating from the wall by the floor, so I started pulling the wallpaper off from there. A strong, musty smell immediately hit me, and then I saw what no one wants to see: mold! Lots of it. It had been growing behind the wallpaper!

I called SERVPRO® of North Rowan County/Salisbury, and they gave me some tips to follow until the mold remediation technicians arrived:

What to do:

  • Stay out of affected areas.
  • Turn off the HVAC system and fans.

What NOT to do:

  • Don’t touch or disturb the mold.
  • Don’t blow air across any surfaces with visible or suspected mold growth.
  • Don’t attempt to dry the area yourself.
  • Don’t spray bleach or other disinfectants on the mold.

I learned that mold spores float around in the air, waiting for moist conditions and food sources to be present, and once they are, the mold can grow very rapidly. Because the spores are always present in the atmosphere, mold can never be completely eradicated, but it can be mitigated and controlled.

CARBON MONOXIDE: A SILENT KILLER

6/29/2020 (Permalink)

You can’t see or smell carbon monoxide, but at high levels it can kill a person in minutes. Often called the silent killer, carbon monoxide, or CO, is an invisible, odorless, colorless gas created when fuels, like gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, and propane burn incompletely. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), each year more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning. It is estimated another 20,000 visit the emergency room, and more than 4,000 are hospitalized due to CO poisoning. All people and animals are at risk for CO poisoning, with some groups including unborn babies, infants and people with chronic heart disease, anemia, or respiratory problems being more susceptible to the effects of carbon monoxide.

An excess of CO, leading to CO poisoning, can result from faulty furnaces or other heating appliances, portable generators, water heaters, clothes dryers, or idling cars left running in garages. Taking some basic, precautionary steps can help eliminate the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Protect yourself by reviewing the following tips provided by the United States Fire Administration.

  • Have fuel-burning appliances, like oil and gas furnaces, gas or kerosene heaters, fireplaces, and wood stoves inspected by a trained professional every year
  • Open the damper for proper ventilation before using a fireplace. Never use your own oven or stovetop to heat your home.
  • Make sure all fuel-burning equipment is vented to the outside to avoid CO poisoning. Keep the venting for exhaust clear and unblocked.
  • If you need to warm a vehicle, remove it from the garage immediately after starting it. Never run a vehicle or other fueled engine or motor indoors, even if garage doors are open. Make sure the exhaust of a running vehicle is not blocked with snow, ice, or other materials.
  • Make sure vents for the dryer, furnace, stove, and fireplace are clear of snow and other debris.
  • Only use barbeque grills outside, away from all doors, windows, vents, and other building openings. Some grills can produce CO gas. Never use grills inside the home or the garage, even if the doors are open.
  • Use portable generators outdoors in well-ventilated areas away from all doors, windows, vents, and other building openings to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the home.

As part of the company's commitment to restoration customers, SERVPRO combines top quality work with technology that streamlines the process of completing each insurance claim:

  • Emergency crews respond faster to any size disaster all day every day
  • Consistent training is completed in compliance with top industry standards

When damages threaten commercial properties, our SERVPRO water, fire, mold, and storm damage restoration technicians are ready to respond. The faster our team members respond and arrive at damaged properties, the easier it is to keep insurance claim costs in check.

Local Ownership, Corporate Resources

Local ownership of franchises helps ensure our teams arrive at damaged properties quickly. It is an essential step toward making sure that property, inventory, furnishings, and other contents suffer the least damage possible. For example, when water damage occurs, the first 24 hours are crucial in determining how far damage penetrates into drywall, carpets, and other materials. Emergency teams must be on hand when fires and firefighting efforts are complete to reduce the extent of secondary damages.

A Quick Response for Damage Control

SERVPRO of North Rowan County/Salisbury is committed to arriving faster to any size disaster when property owners need any type of cleanup and restoration work. Call us at 704-925-1019 and find out how we can help!
